Guitarist MIYAVI has officially left the renowned supergroup THE LAST ROCKSTARS, which was formed in November 2022 and brought together legends YOSHIKI, HYDE, SUGIZO, and MIYAVI. This band’s debut single, “THE LAST ROCKSTARS (Paris Mix),” and subsequent appearance on NHK’s “Kohaku Uta Gassen” fueled their rapid rise, captivating audiences across Japan and the U.S. with an impressive debut tour.
The announcement of MIYAVI’s exit came on November 11 at precisely 23:11 JST, a moment fans had eagerly anticipated for new content. Alongside this announcement, THE LAST ROCKSTARS released the full music video for their second single, “PSYCHO LOVE,” which features MIYAVI in what will likely be his last visual appearance with the group.
Although MIYAVI is stepping back from the supergroup, fans can look forward to continued collaboration with YOSHIKI. The two are reportedly involved in a new project, affirming that their artistic partnership remains strong despite MIYAVI’s departure from THE LAST ROCKSTARS.
In related news, YOSHIKI has recently undergone a third cervical surgery. Known for his resilience, YOSHIKI continued drumming following previous surgeries despite the physical toll. However, with this most recent procedure, he has chosen to prioritize recovery and temporarily suspend drumming, a decision made in consultation with his medical team in Los Angeles. Under careful supervision, he is now focused on rehabilitation, with the hope of returning to performance if his health allows.
MIYAVI’s exit undoubtedly marks the end of a unique era for THE LAST ROCKSTARS. However, his and YOSHIKI’s enduring collaborations hint at promising new directions for their music and legacy, maintaining fans’ anticipation for what’s to come.
