DEVILOOF to Release New Single “Inshu” for 10th Anniversary

Japanese metal band DEVILOOF marks their 10th anniversary with the release of Inshu on January 29, 2025. This single explores dark themes with experimental elements, showcasing their artistic evolution.

DEVILOOF, a prominent name in Japan’s metal scene, will release their new digital single, Inshu (因習), on January 29, 2025. The release is part of their 10th-anniversary celebrations, highlighting a decade of growth and exploration in their unique sound.

Inshu takes inspiration from the concept of “innate wickedness culture,” a recurring theme in traditional Japanese village horror stories. The track also features experimental elements, such as female choral vocals performed by Sennzai, a vocal artist known for her work in game music and other projects with over 25 million streams. Her haunting falsetto vocals add to the single’s unsettling atmosphere, aligning with its dark narrative.

The single represents a significant technical achievement for the band, as it incorporates some of their most challenging musical arrangements to date. Accompanying the release is artwork by Yukihisa Tamura, an artist recognized for his vivid and unsettling depictions. Tamura’s hand-painted acrylic cover interprets the song’s lyrics and emphasizes its grim themes.

A music video for Inshu has also been produced, and according to the band, it is among their most extreme visual works, reflecting their dedication to celebrating this milestone year.
