MUCC to Release Major Comeback Album “1997” on April 2

MUCC announces 1997, their first full album since their major comeback. Set for release on April 2, the album features 16 tracks, including remastered hits. A nationwide release event tour will follow.

MUCC, one of the most influential bands in the Japanese rock scene, has officially announced the release of their 17th full-length album, 1997, marking their first major-label album since their latest return. The album is set to drop on April 2, 2025, and will feature 16 tracks, including remastered versions of previously released singles.

Among the confirmed tracks are Ai no Uta, which served as their major comeback single last June, and invader and October, both of which were performed during the MUCC TOUR 2024 “Daydream”. Additionally, the album will include Daydream Believer, a song that was played during the tour without its title being revealed at the time.

The album title, 1997, holds deep significance, as it references the year MUCC was formed. This nostalgic yet forward-looking release is expected to showcase the band’s signature blend of emotional intensity and powerful instrumentation.

Fans who purchase the Limited Edition will receive a Blu-ray featuring footage from MUCC’s September 2024 concert at EX THEATER ROPPONGI. The live performance includes collaborations with artists such as Hazuki (lynch.), Reiki (Kizu), and members of Raphael and An Cafe.

To celebrate the album’s release, MUCC will embark on a nationwide in-store event tour, starting in Tokyo on March 15 and continuing through June in various cities across Japan. More details will be announced soon.

With 1997, MUCC is set to redefine their legacy once again, blending past and present in an album that promises to resonate deeply with longtime fans and newcomers alike.
