Japanese music duo KinKi Kids, comprised of Koichi Domoto and Tsuyoshi Domoto, has officially announced their rebranding as “DOMOTO.” The announcement was made during their concert, “KinKi Kids Concert 2024-2025 DOMOTO,” held at Kyocera Dome Osaka on December 31 and January 1. The duo also shared the news in a live-streamed event on YouTube, directly from the concert venue.
During the live stream, the two artists wore traditional white formal attire and shared a relaxed, conversational announcement. “We’ve decided to rename our unit to DOMOTO,” they explained, adding, “This is a fresh challenge, but the essence of the two of us remains unchanged. Think of it as if the name on our signboard has simply been updated.” They emphasized their commitment to maintaining their unique style while embracing new opportunities under their new name.
As part of this rebranding, DOMOTO announced exciting developments for their fans. A new fan club will officially launch this summer, but pre-registration is already open via the fan club’s website. Additionally, they revealed plans for a best-of album, though the title and release date remain undisclosed. On their fan club site, a heartfelt message from the duo reads, “We are taking a new step forward. Sharing the same name, we embark on this journey as DOMOTO, staying true to who we are.“
This name change symbolizes both a continuation of their legacy and a step toward fresh beginnings, with fans eagerly anticipating what DOMOTO will bring to the Japanese music scene.
