Laputa, a visual kei band that played a key role in shaping the “Nagoya kei” scene, has released seven of their music videos from their Japan Crown era on YouTube. These include fan favorites such as “Shape~in the shape of wing,” “Final,” and “Silent on-looker.”
Formed in 1993, Laputa consisted of aki (vocals), Kouichi (guitar), Junji (bass), and Tomoi (drums). Known for their unique blend of gothic and alternative rock, they left a lasting mark on the visual kei landscape until their indefinite hiatus in 2004.
The band’s recent return to the spotlight follows the tragic passing of vocalist aki in August 2023 due to a sudden illness. Their emotional reunion, titled “ALL BURST,” takes place today, September 28, 2024, at DIAMOND HALL in Aichi for a sold-out, one-night-only performance.
This nostalgic release of music videos offers both new and longtime fans a chance to relive Laputa‘s influential era and honor the memory of their late vocalist.
