DIR EN GREY and PIERROT Set to Clash at “THE FINAL WAR” in Tokyo

The iconic bands reunite for a highly anticipated joint live at Tokyo’s National Yoyogi Stadium after seven years.

In a monumental return to the stage, DIR EN GREY and PIERROT are gearing up for their joint live performance titled “ANDROGYNOS – THE FINAL WAR –” scheduled for October 11 and 12 at the National Yoyogi Stadium First Gymnasium in Tokyo. This event marks a significant reunion, happening approximately seven years after their last celebrated joint live in July 2017 at the Yokohama Arena in Kanagawa.

Back in 2017, the bands, who debuted around the same time at the end of the 90’s and could be considered contemporaries, embarked on a two-day live event under the name “ANDROGYNOS.” At the time, both bands enjoyed immense popularity and were seen as rivals, which added a layer of intense competition and intrigue to their performances. The upcoming concerts are aptly named “THE FINAL WAR,” hinting at an ultimate showdown of artistic expression. The official live site intriguingly notes, «Censors kill the word, hypocrites spread morphine from stages,» a phrase that adds an enigmatic layer to the already high expectations for the event.

The anticipation for “THE FINAL WAR” is palpable among fans, who can start securing their tickets via a lottery pre-reservation running from June 6 at 12:00 PM to June 11 at 11:59 PM through the official fan clubs of both bands. Furthermore, the live announcement video is currently available on YouTube, fueling excitement with glimpses of what is expected to be a historic performance.

The event is divided into two distinct nights, each themed differently. October 11, “ANDROGYNOS – under the Blue Moon –,” will see performances by PIERROT followed by DIR EN GREY. The following night, October 12, “ANDROGYNOS – under the Red Moon –,” will feature DIR EN GREY and PIERROT, reversing the order to provide a varied experience for attendees.

As Tokyo prepares to host these legendary bands, fans from across the globe are eager to witness what may be one of the most memorable musical battles in the history of Japanese rock. With their legacy of riveting performances and a shared history marked by rivalry and respect, DIR EN GREY and PIERROT are poised to deliver an unparalleled live music experience this October.
