BLANKEY JET CITY, the seminal rock band formed by Kenichi Asai (vocals, guitar), Toshiyuki Terui (bass), and Tatsuya Nakamura (drums) in 1987, is set to make a remarkable return to the music scene. Although the band disbanded in 2000 following a memorable final performance at Kanagawa’s Yokohama Arena and an appearance at that year’s FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL, their music continues to resonate with fans across generations. On July 28, their entire discography will be available for the first time on all major subscription streaming services.
The resurgence of BLANKEY JET CITY began on July 2 with the launch of their official YouTube channel and X (formerly Twitter) account. In celebration, the band released “LAST DANCE,” a video of their final concert, for one night only on YouTube on July 9. In anticipation of the full catalog release, the live album “LAST DANCE” will be available for streaming starting July 10.
Adding to the excitement, BLANKEY JET CITY‘s ten studio albums are being reissued on vinyl. The first two albums, “Red Guitar and the Truth” and “BANG!,” will be released on September 25, followed by “C.B. Jim” and “METAL MOON” on November 27. These vinyl editions are expertly transferred from the original analog master tapes to high-resolution digital formats, ensuring the preservation of the dynamic range and authenticity of the original mixes.
These reissued albums will come in two editions: a standard 180-gram double jacket edition and a limited edition from UNIVERSAL MUSIC STORE, which includes a T-shirt. Pre-orders for these vinyl editions will begin on July 10 at 18:00, available both in physical stores and online. Further details regarding the remaining albums will be announced in due course.
Fans can eagerly anticipate the opportunity to experience BLANKEY JET CITY‘s raw, unfiltered energy through these new releases, celebrating the band’s enduring legacy in a format that honors their original sound and vision.
