Sakaguchi shared her decision on her blog on May 22, reflecting on her journey with the group. She stated:
“I decided to graduate after the Under Live for our 33rd single. I thoroughly enjoyed the live performance and felt an immense sense of accomplishment. It might sound dramatic, but I felt like I had done everything I could, and that was when I made up my mind to graduate.”
She plans to graduate in July after the activities for the 35th single “Chances Are Equal,” with specific dates to be announced later.
Sakaguchi joined Nogizaka46 as a 3rd generation member in September 2016 and debuted on stage in December of the same year. She was first selected as a senbatsu member for the 23rd single “Sing Out!” in 2019. Additionally, her first photobook “Aoi Bara” is set to be released on June 25.
Sakaguchi‘s contributions to Nogizaka46 have been significant, and her presence will be missed by fans and fellow members alike. Her decision marks the end of a meaningful chapter and the beginning of new opportunities.
